"FELIX WAS AFRAID"

• Introduction
  1. Acts 21:10-14
     Agabus prophesied that Paul would be imprisoned in Jerusalem.
  2. Acts 21:27-33
     The prophecy was fulfilled in short order.
  3. Acts 24:24-25
     As a prisoner, Paul found himself incarcerated in Caesarea, where Felix, the governor, "heard him concerning the faith in Christ."

1. "Righteousness"
   1. 1 Corinthians 15:34
      Righteousness must be awakened unto.
      1. Doing so requires abstinence from sin.
      2. Doing so requires knowledge of God.
   2. Romans 1:16-17
      Righteousness is revealed in the gospel.
   3. Ephesians 6:14
      Righteousness must be used to protect the heart.
   4. 1 Timothy 6:11
      Righteousness must be pursued.
   5. 1 John 3:7
      We cannot be righteous without doing the works of righteousness.
   6. 2 Timothy 4:8
      Righteousness has rewards.
2. "Self-Control"
   1. Galatians 5:22-23
      Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit.
   2. 2 Peter 1:5-9
      Self-control must be added to our faith.
   3. Titus 1:7-8
      Self-control is a necessary characteristic of a bishop in the church.
   4. 1 Corinthians 9:25
      Self-control is required in order to gain a reward.
3. "The Judgment To Come"
   2 Corinthians 5:10
   1. Revelation 20:12
      No one will escape judgment.
   2. John 5:22
      Christ will do the judging.
4. Mark 13:32
   No one knows when the judgment will take place.
   1. Acts 17:30-31
      Nevertheless, an appointment has already been made for it.
   2. Hebrews 9:27
      The appointment follows death.
   3. 2 Peter 3:7
      A reservation has already been made at that time to destroy earth.

• Conclusion
  1. You've now heard three articles of faith in Christ (Acts 24:24).
     1. Don't be afraid, as Felix was (Acts 24:25).
     2. Don't dismiss what you've heard, like he did (Acts 24:25).
  2. Instead, obey!
     1. Be righteous.
     2. Control yourself.
     3. Prepare for judgment!
