"AS THE DAYS OF NOAH"
- Introduction
- Romans 15:4
According to the Holy Spirit, through the apostle Paul, the scriptures of the Old Testament are useful to us for the purpose of learning.
- B.Genesis 6:1-9:17
One truly amazing example comes from the Flood.
- Corruption
- Genesis 6:5-6, 11-12
From such an early time as this the whole world was overrun with evil.
- 1 John 2:15-17
The earth is still full of corruption.
- Surprise Destruction
- Matthew 24:36-38
Because they didn't take God's warnings seriously, the flood took everyone by surprise.
- 2 Peter 3:5-13
Although we don't know just when it will occur, the earth's final end should not surprise us. We've received fair warning.
- Minority Salvation
- 1 Peter 3:20; 2 Peter 2:5
God saved so few in the flood.
- Matthew 7:13-14
Still, only few will be saved in Christ.
- One Vessel Built For Safety
- Genesis 6:14
God instructed Noah to build an ark for the saving of his household.
- Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:23
Christ built the church, which is His body, for the saving of all who are in it.
- Door
- Genesis 6:16
The subjects of this salvation were to enter by one door.
- John 10:1-9; 14:6
So it is with our present salvation; there is only one way to access it. Jesus is that one door through which we must enter to be saved. He is the only way to get in.
- Window
- Genesis 6:16
You're going to spend nearly one full year on a 101,250 square foot vessel. How many windows would you prefer? God sanctioned one.
- John 1:4-5; 8:12
We, too, have just one source of light.
- Family
- Genesis 7:7, 13, 8:16, 18
The ark contained one family.
- Ephesians 2:18-19; 3:14-15
God's saved people today are a family, too.
- Separation
- Genesis 7:23
The rest of the world perished, but Noah's family was separated from the destruction.
- 2 Corinthians 6:17
God still expects us to be separate.
- Food
- Genesis 6:21
God made provision for Noah's family to eat.
- John 6:35
Jesus is our food and water.
- Sacrifice
- Genesis 8:18-20
When he emerged from the ark Noah offered up sacrifices to God.
- Hebrews 13:15
Let us do the same through thanksgiving.
- Romans 12:1
Our every deed should be done in sacrifice to Him who saved us.
- Promise
- Genesis 8:21-22, 9:8-17
God promised Noah He would not flood the earth again.
- 1 John 2:25
We await the promise of eternal life.
